History between Mr. Griffin and the alleged victim "M.I.A."

While socializing at a club in downtown San Diego, Mr. Griffin saw an ex-girlfriend who was recently released from prison for assaulting him with a deadly weapon. She approached him and after a quick uncomfortable conversation, he throughout the night tried to avoid any further contact due to her past and prior aggressive behavior. Being that it would be difficult and impossible for them both to avoid contact with each other throughout the night, Mr. Griffin decides to leave the club. As Mr. Griffin was leaving he saw that she was following him and immediately found the nearest women around to distract her from approaching him a second time. After a few minutes of conversing she and Mr. Griffin left the club and eventually ended up at his house. From the start the women brought home from the club showed much interest in him and later asked if they would see each other again. In the morning (the woman from the club) arranged for her friend (the alleged victim) to pick her up from Mr. Griffin’s home. (No sexual intercourse had taken place.) This was the first encounter that Mr. Griffin had with M.I.A. At that time M.I.A. worked at Wal-Mart (part-time), an exotic masseuse (part-time), collected government assistance and had two children from a tumultuous relationship in which the father was (also) incarcerated in a state prison. Coincidently, M.I.A. and one of Mr. Griffin’s close friends was attending the same college, they dated sporadically.

Mr. Griffin, whom at the time had no criminal record, was known in his community as a local “ghetto / urban star.” Mr. Griffin was seen on M.T.V.s dancing show called The Grind, various dating shows, Judge Mathis, opened up shows for The House of Blues and the Onyx club. Mr. Griffin also had the privilege to open up a show for the well-known American hip hop group called Cypress Hill from South Gate, Ca. Mr. Griffin owned and operated a record studio where he managed, recorded, manufactured and consulted local acts. He believed that he could maximize the chances of their success. To supplement the income, Mr. Griffin bought a car made by Unique Whips; a well-known television show aired on Speed Channel from 2005-2008, that specialized in customizing automobiles for celebrities like P. Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Timbaland, 50 Cent and Fat Joe. This car was used for video shoots and appearances. Mr. Griffin was a well-established business man who owned a small used car dealership located in downtown San Diego, a real estate investor who process / funded his own loans, opened up a sober living home and a daycare center. Mr. Griffin also ventured out and was in the process of starting an afterschool program and a college prepping learning academy.

Mr. Griffin and M.I.A. started meeting up and occasionally going on dates (M.I.A.’s friend was unaware of those encounters). On July 4th 2005 after a beach party M.I.A. and her friend, whom was originally introduced to Mr. Griffin, weren’t on good terms. M.I.A.'s friend had caught her and Mr. Griffin kissing and wanted to confront her on what she had witnessed. This confrontation turned very quickly into a physical altercation that ultimately lead to the ending of a friendship. Mr. Griffin and M.I.A. became close when he was shot by an unknown assailant on Market Street and Euclid Avenue in San Diego. Mr. Griffin was able to quickly drive himself to Paradise Valley Hospital where he received the medical treatment needed. After Mr. Griffin was stabilized he was transferred to U.C.S.D. Medical Center where a close family member and M.I.A. were waiting for his arrival. Mr. Griffin was discharged from the hospital and chose to hide out at M.I.A.'s home in El Cajon City under the assumption no one knew whether or not he had survived the shooting. Although Mr. Griffin and M.I.A. had an open relationship this truly tightened the bond between her and her children. Since Mr. Griffin was almost bed stricken M.I.A. physically helped him to shower, dress, eat and use the bathroom. In addition to her helping Mr. Griffin with his day to day affairs, she soon after became engulfed in Mr. Griffin’s life. M.I.A. acquired a childcare license for Mr. Griffin. He watched her children to add to the income. She helped him to obtain wealth, maintain his businesses, paid bills, assisted in property issues, car sales and etcetera. M.I.A. even helped him purchase a 2004 Mercedes Benz.

Once Mr. Griffin recovered it was back to business as normal and the relationship quickly started to fade between them. Not wanting to lose the attention of Mr. Griffin she offered to bring other women into their relationship as well as bring him monetary gifts. Unfortunately due to all the traffic coming in and out of M.I.A.'s home she was evicted and later fired from her job for an excessive amount of missed days. Without any hesitation Mr. Griffin allowed M.I.A. and her children to move into his home. Mr. Griffin was extremely close and truly loved (at the time) her youngest son. He would have done anything for him. Even though the two had an open relationship it was a family style environment for the children.

Time passed and Mr. Griffin found two buyers for his house. M.I.A. was informed that she would have to move in with her mother because Mr. Griffins home would needed to be prepared for sale. According to M.I.A. it wasn’t the appropriate time because some of her family members were also temporarily staying at her mother’s home. Mr. Griffin made accommodations and they both were able to stay during the preparation and rehabilitation. On the other hand the buyer and Mr. Griffin made new business arrangements that would have to cause him and M.I.A. to move immediately. Once this information was relayed to M.I.A. she became extremely irate and the conversation turned into a verbal argument.  After the argument M.I.A. did agreed to leave in the morning. M.I.A. still refusing to leave the premises that morning and an immense fight ensued between them. M.I.A. truly believed that Mr. Griffin was trying to abandon or get rid of her after all that she had done to bring him back from recovery physically. The fight continued between them and close neighbors heard all of the commotion and called law enforcement. M.I.A. finally called her sister to help move her out. On arrival the police watched M.I.A. remove her belongings from Mr. Griffin’s home to make sure the peace was kept between them, but also officers couldn’t help but notice the argument that started to take place between M.I.A. and her sister.

(Mr. Griffin believes that it was within the next couple of days that he and M.I.A. met up at the Del Mar Fairgrounds which is now called the San Diego County Fair. Upon meeting M.I.A., Mr. Griffin happened to notice the intense amount of makeup she was wearing being this was very unusual for her.)

On one particular night M.I.A. drastically needed Mr. Griffin’s help. She called him repeatedly informing him of her horrible living situation that she and the children were experiencing. M.I.A. also stated in a text message that it was not safe where she was staying and that it was infested with rodents. Mr. Griffin not taking the situation too seriously just started to ignore her phone calls and text messages. M.I.A. finally states in a text message that she would call the police on him (fabricating another incident) and would have him arrested if he did not pick her up. Mr. Griffin texted her back stating that he knew where she was and to “wait,” and he would find a place for her to live. Mr. Griffin reassured her again that there was no reason to get the police involved in this matter. In one last final threatening text message from M.I.A. she states to him “you have 30 minutes.”

There were several incidents where M.I.A. threatened to call law enforcements on Mr. Griffin because he simply ignored her request to move back into his home. On July 4th 2006, Mr. Griffin and M.I.A. were at another 4th of July beach party with mutual friends when M.I.A. was threatening to call law enforcements again when she couldn’t leave with him. Ultimately, Mr. Griffin was arrested and taken into custody for domestic violence and sexually assaulting M.I.A. This alleged incident supposedly happened on the day before she had moved out on July 26th 2006.You see, M.I.A. did end up calling 9-1-1 to complain about a domestic dispute but it was on the morning of July 3rd 2005. During this period of time Mr. Griffin would always find that M.I.A. was intoxicated and heavenly under the influence of drugs including marijuana. In addition, M.I.A. may have incurred these injuries from the argument between her and her sister.

Once again the police were called approximately around 12:15 pm on that particular day. Mr. Griffin believes since he had been extremely uncooperative in regards to the police investigation of the incident that led to his hospitalization (Mr. Griffin was shot in his right arm and was the target for an attempt to kill) officers were immediately at the scene. According to M.I.A. the law enforcement showed no concerned regarding her alleged complaint regarding a physically assault, but was more interested in Mr. Griffin’s alleged criminal activities. The officers asked her about Mr. Griffin’s guns, if he sold drugs and how he made his income. At that point M.I.A. wanted to terminate the report. The law enforcement that took the report that Mr. Griffin physically assaulted her (on the night before she moved out on June 28th 2005) was done questioning her. M.I.A. was basically useless to the officers since she was unable to answer any of their questions regarding Mr. Griffin's income. Then another officer begins to question her on more intimate and private matters between them.

After answering a series of questions the law enforcement came to the conclusion that she had been a victim of sexual assault and needed to be escorted to the hospital. (Example-- Q: Did you and Mr. Griffin engage in sexual relations during the time of this incident? A: Yes. Q: Did you want to? A: No, not at the time.) A second time M.I.A. tries to refuse the insisted medical attention, terminate the report and declare that she was never sexually assaulted but the law enforcement stated that she could not terminate the report or she would be arrested, taken to jail along with her children being placed in foster care for making a fabricated 9-1-1 call. M.I.A. having no other choice agreed to peacefully leave with the officers. She was taken to U.C.M.C. or Promise Hospital and submitted to a forensic examination for sexual assault. Moreover, a whole new set of particular facts were conjured up during this examination that was never turned into the authorities (which was standard procedure).

Mr. Griffin was taken and while in custody he was visited by a law enforcement official where he visually inspected his hands for defensive bruises as well as taking a saliva sample. Later Mr. Griffin posted bail ($200,000.00) and was released. On Mr. Griffin’s second court date the case was dismissed for insufficiency of evidence because no DNA evidence deriving from Mr. Griffin was found. Mr. Griffin’s father and M.I.A. attended his court hearing. After the court hearing Mr. Griffin’s father and M.I.A. went to the district attorney’s office and picked up a document stating that the D.A. had one year to re-file charges if new evidence arises.

This traumatic incident caused Mr. Griffin to lose a significant amount money, he was severely embarrassed and this eventually put a strain on their relationship. Meanwhile M.I.A. filed for disability and received the victim financial assistance as if Mr. Griffin assaulted her. (Mr. Griffin was unaware of this assistance.) Mr. Griffin (and M.I.A.) knew that the D.A. had up to a year to re-file charges so he kept the relationship between them as content as possible. They didn’t live together anymore but she still used his address for numerous reasons such as schooling for her child, childcare and welfare services. She would also come over to wash her clothes and occasionally spend the night.

Mr. Griffin does admit to leaving M.I.A. at different places, dating her close friends and calling her derogatory names. M.I.A. is guilty of committing such acts of jealousy when she found out that he and one of her childhood friends were dating. M.I.A. is guilty of taking one of Mr. Griffin’s car and construction money while he was at work without his permission. On one particular occasion she had left a gun inside a car that was rented by Mr. Griffin and called the law enforcement stating he had stolen her gun and that he was a gang member. M.I.A. has also broken into Mr. Griffin’s home stealing thousands of dollars, jewelry and some other personal belongings. When law enforcement was going to arrest her, Mr. Griffin declined that she had stolen and used his credit card without his permission.

July 26th 2006

Mr. Griffin believes that since he didn’t falsely implicate an alleged cop killer as the person who attempted to kill him, this caused major trouble between him, the S.D.P.D. and the D.A. Mr. Griffin admits to lying to law enforcement and the D.A. that he would implicate out of fear. Mr. Griffin was told by law enforcement that he would be placed in a cell with his alleged enemies if he didn’t go to the preliminary hearing. Mr. Griffin had already decided to leave town before the trial. Not remembering the specific date but Mr. Griffin had to pick up money from the S.D.P.D. and one of the detectives on his case spotted him and stated that he had “F’d up,” the cop killer only received five years. The detective also informed him that they would get him instead and to be careful because they definitely would be watching him now. So when M.I.A. called the police on July 26th 2006, Mr. Griffin was almost shot as if there was some sort of standoff between him and the law enforcement.

On July 26th 2006 M.I.A. again threatens Mr. Griffin with calling the authorities if he didn’t let her stay the night. Mr. Griffin had no regard for her demanding request since the D.A.s one year deadline to file new charges ended on July 3rd 2006. When Mr. Griffin was asleep in his roommate’s room (he was locked out of his room) when his roommate informed him that there were tons of police officers outside surrounding his residence. The roommate also relayed a message that the S.W.A.T. Team was on the way and that he had a couple of minutes before the S.D.P.D. search dogs were coming in. This was because M.I.A. called the police and said that she was hit and threatened by Mr. Griffin days ago, but M.I.A. was seen injury free at her son’s dental appointment on the morning before she had called law enforcement. Moreover Mr. Griffin stayed with her child during the dental procedure while M.I.A. left to run errands. Please note that directly across from the dental office was the Chula Vista Police Department, if needed, M.I.A. had all the opportunity to complain if a domestic dispute had truly occurred. On July 26th 2006 Mr. Griffin was arrested for domestic violence, delaying arrest and false imprisonment. Mr. Griffin roommate paid $80,000.00 to bail him out of jail and once again Mr. Griffin was back in the hands of the D.A.

(Even though M.I.A. had called the police and falsely accused Mr. Griffin of such acts he still bailed M.I.A. out of jail when she was arrested on a bench warrant at the S.D.P.D. station where she was obtaining her escort license.)

(The only reason why M.I.A. was at Mr. Griffins home was because a birthday party was thrown for her youngest son. Mr. Griffin rented an Astro jumper, he barbequed and rented from pay-per view. Some of Mr. Griffin’s friends were there including friends from the U.S.S. Stennis. During the party the police were called because Mr. Griffin wanted to leave the party with his friends but M.I.A. wanted him to stay so a heated argument broke out between the two. M.I.A.'s younger brother whom was also attending the birthday party became frightful, panicked and called the police. He also let them in. The police walked in and caught the two in a heated argument where Mr. Griffin had a pillow over his head and M.I.A. was yelling injury free; the police escorted her off Mr. Griffin’s property.)

Mr. Griffin begins to search for experienced lawyers but M.I.A. recommended an attorney so Mr. Griffin scheduled an appointment to meet with him, M.I.A. requested to accompany him. Unfortunately he had an emergency and requested to reschedule the appointment. M.I.A. was upset but attended the next appointment with Mr. Griffin where the attorney assisted M.I.A. in drafting a letter to the D.A.’s office advising them to not file charges against Mr. Griffin concerning the July 26th 2006 alleged incident. Mr. Griffin’s attorney faxed the letter to the DA’s office on August 2nd 2006.

On August 30th 2006 the D.A. filed charges of physical and sexual assault from the dropped case in July 2005. The D.A. used this letter concerning the July 26th 2006 incident as new evidence for justifying reopening the case. Mr. Griffins home was raided where law enforcement took toothbrushes, toothpaste, novelty sex toys, sheets and blankets. Mr. Griffin’s attorney advised him to lay low since bail had already been paid; $200,000.00 in 2005 for the same case. According to the attorney, once Mr. Griffin showed up for the arraignment he’d plead not guilty and would be able to walk free. On September 9th 2006 Mr. Griffin walked into the courtroom and was not arraigned as promised, but instead arrested and thrown in jail. Mr. Griffin had to sell another home while in jail before he was able to post bail again for $200,000.00 in December 2006.

Once Mr. Griffin posted bail he ignored all of M.I.A.'s attempts to contact him. While Mr. Griffin was at Home Depot he received a call from his attorney advising him to end all communication with M.I.A. She had allegedly called law enforcement and told them that he had called and left a threatening message stating that he would kill her if she didn’t drop the charges. Mr. Griffin heeded to his attorneys advice for a while but the relationship was rekindled when M.I.A. had saw him at the beach. Mr. Griffin still spoke to M.I.A. even though his attorney strictly advised him not to. She explained that she did not want all this to happen and that it was beyond and out of her control. (That same night they spend the night at a hotel in El Cajon City. M.I.A. believed that she was back in Mr. Griffin’s life.) M.I.A. was now talking to Mr. Griffin (again) and two of his other friends who were also helping with his case. M.I.A. became pregnant (by another individual) so it became hard for her to still assist him with his legal affairs. Mr. Griffin would often stay at M.I.A.'s home in Central San Diego and would hear when the D.A. detectives would call and M.I.A. would tell them that Mr. Griffin was innocent and that she could not go to trial and lie. The detective(s) informed M.I.A. that it was too late, that she had to stick to the script

Mr. Griffin taken into custody (again) on a completely unrelated matter

When M.I.A. found out through an anonymous mutual friend that Mr. Griffin was incarcerated, she showed much concern and stated that she would support and help him. She would write and send emails as Amanda Griffin while he was in the Downtown County Jail and the George Baily Detention Facility. In one specific letter that was sent she expressed in a small greeting card that she was "going to help him no matter what the D.A. says." Mr. Griffin’s unrelated case was dismissed but M.I.A. still stayed in contact with him. After the D.A. found out that M.I.A. was in contact with Mr. Griffin on August 20th 2007, an investigator went to M.I.A.’s mother home and threatened them both with incarceration along with her children being taken away for refusing to allowed him in the home to speak with her daughter; the investigator wanted to serve M.I.A. with a subpoena. M.I.A. was late in her pregnancy and was having housing problems so Mr. Griffin’s mother allowed her and her children to move into Mr. Griffin’s partially owned home.

The Trial / Conviction

On the day of Mr. Griffin’s trial, his girlfriend noticed a man circling the house. She described him as being a tall Caucasian male. After a few minutes he knocked on the door requesting for M.I.A. This person kept trying to gain access into the home to verify that M.I.A. wasn’t in there. Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend kept ignored him though he was yelling at her through the side den window. Shortly after being denied access into Mr. Griffin’s home, a team of officers came and surrounded the house searching for more ways to enter the house. One Afro-American male officer stated that if he wasn’t let in the house then he would break down the door. He stated that he had a warrant for M.I.A.'s arrest and that she had been subpoenaed to be in court that day. The team of officers eventually broke down the door and a large number of officers had their guns pointed at Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend, M.I.A. and her children with inferred red beams of light.

At that time M.I.A. was 7 months pregnant and had been placed on bed rest by her doctor because of the complication of her pregnancy. The law enforcement over looked and did not take her condition into consideration and handcuffed M.I.A. in a brutal fashion. After one of the officers / investigators stated that M.I.A.'s children would be taken away to Polinsky she became hysterical and repeatedly requested to use the bathroom. Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend pleaded with the officer that she could watch and take care of them while she’s gone. He agreed to leave both children with her. Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend noticed as M.I.A. was being placed in the car that she vomited and looked as if she went into shock.

M.I.A. was thrown on the witness stand under arrest and the officer with the badge around his neck turned out to be the D.A.s investigator who worked for child protective services.

(Court documents show that M.I.A. was never subpoenaed or ever told what day to appear in court. Meanwhile, the prosecution was still able to get a warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in court. Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend also moved into the home to be a support system for M.I.A. and her children during this time. The D.A. had put M.I.A. under severe stress and overwhelming pressure to testify against Mr. Griffin.)

At the trial M.I.A. was coerced to fabricate statements of the phone messages and involuntary interviews (the D.A.’s investigator forced his way into M.I.A.'s mother’s home with a threat to arrest, he was also seated next to the prosecuting attorney to intimidate M.I.A. during the trial). The prosecutor used M.I.A. as the subterfuge to get inadmissible evidence before the jury. Meaning, M.I.A. may have claimed she wasn’t sexually assaulted but the prosecution would use out-of-court statements and hearsay statements to impeach her. The jury was instructed to use the hearsay statements to prove every element of every crime charged, this is how Mr. Griffin was convicted. Furthermore, when M.I.A. was denying or claiming she didn’t remember making those hearsay statements presented by the D.A., Mr. Griffin’s attorney on the second day of trial advised her (along with Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend) to affirm making those statements, in which he would lead her to the correct answer, in addition to other acts committed by the prosecution and Mr. Griffin’s attorney. Initially it was Mr. Griffin’s attorney that advised M.I.A. (and Mr. Griffin’s girlfriend) to hide during the trial because “it would be hard to convict Mr. Griffin if there’s no victim.” The prosecutor lied at the trial stating that on August 10th or 15th Mr. Griffin left messages threatening to kill M.I.A. or would have his friend kill her if she didn’t write a letter dropping all charges. When initially the letter was written on August 2nd and the charges were not filed until August 30th. Simply put, the letter was written some eight to thirteen days before the alleged voice message(s) that supposedly threaten M.I.A. to write the recanting letter and charges were filed twenty-eight days after the letter was written, in addition to other acts committed by the prosecution and Mr. Griffins attorney.

Mr. Griffin was convicted of the sexual and physical assault charges from July 2006 as well as the new charges added from July 26th 2006, he was sentenced to thirty-two years in prison. After trial, Mr. Griffin found out that his own attorney had something to do with his conviction. Mr. Griffin’s family, girl-friend and friends have strongly supported and assisted in his “correction of self,” and his case. M.I.A. was extremely hurt that this corruption of the court happened and has also helped Mr. Griffin in finding justice. In March 2012 Mr. Griffin and M.I.A. were able to speak and have a conversation regarding the trial and her new improved life. She now had a job working as a dental assistant, attempting to correct her credit history and mentoring young women she knew in similar situations; advising them not to get involved in any type of abusive relationships. Now, almost seven years later M.I.A. has matured into a wonderful woman of morals and married to the father of her youngest child. Mr. Griffin showed his support in the new women she had become and urged her to keep changing young women who were in similar situations.

Mr. Griffin now understands that M.I.A. or any other women in his life never caused him to suffer. It was himself that lead him to this destruction. Mr. Griffin is attempting to secure funds for an attorney for M.I.A. and himself because no collateral damage is needed when ensuring Mr. Griffin’s freedom, in addition to M.I.A. being concerned with the retaliation from the D.A.s office.

This society has come a long way in regards to the respect for women’s rights, but the issue in most cases in intimate relationships rest on how the man thinks about and treats his partner. Men shouldn’t attempt to change women by physical, psychological injury or persuade in an effort to accommodate his comfort zone or insanities. The man’s disposition of the opposite sex is partially shaped at the developed mental stages in life. Mr. Griffin believes that this is the critical stage to define the opposite sex instead of what’s seen on media outlets, old stereotypes and what’s portrayed in his environment. This in effect will curb the todays thought of women in general. Just like a criminal who uses, beats and sexually assaults women, men in high positions in office or cooperate America and others holding ethical duties commit the same offenses. Women too should also realize that they are the mother of civilization and that their body is not their only asset. Women have a moral responsibility that cannot be escaped. To sum it up, Mr. Griffin would like readers to know that it is not about the women but how the man unconsciously thinks and believes what a relationship is and what a woman truly means to them.
